Abbey Voices
Abbey Voices is the first community choir in Abbey and is held in and for the people in this community. Its aim is to bring people together in the shared activity of singing – which is well-known to improve physical and mental well-being – in an open access group. There is no need to read music – we sing a range of different songs including popular songs, folk songs and songs from different cultures and traditions all taught by ear. Listen to Abbey Voices singing This is Home by Sophia Efthimiou
Choir member Lynsey writes: “ I have made new friends who live close by to me that I would never have met had I not got involved with Abbey Voices. Each Thursday evening I spend with my choir friends leaves me feeling uplifted and happy that the opportunity to sing with local people is open to me. It is true what they say, singing really is good for the soul.” We meet on Thursdays at Barnwell Baptist Church during term time 7:15 – 8:45 with a tea break (with cake!) around 8pm. It is a very friendly group and we always welcome new members. To find out more please email Clare on abbeyvoices@gmail.com or just come along one Thursday.
