Virtual Town Hall – Online Public Consultation

Come learn more about the Cambridge Eastern Access to Newmarket Road improvements consultation at our Virtual Town Hall

We are excited to announce that we will be running our first Virtual Town Hall event. This will be an opportunity for residents to learn about the upcoming improvements from Cambridge Eastern Access to Newmarket Road.

Last year a public consultation on the options for inclusion was undertaken for our Eastern Access project. The Strategic Outline Business Case (SOBC) confirmed there is a strategic case for improvements in the area. This includes public transport, cycling and walking for those travelling into Cambridge from the east.

The outline business case also defined the project as having separate areas of work. The first is to make improvements to public transport, cycling and walking on Newmarket Road. Also, a potential relocation to the Newmarket Road Park and Ride was considered. This will hopefully be delivered prior to 2025. There are also longer-term improvements which can be delivered after 2025, as well as the upgrading of the Cambridge to Newmarket railway line.

The results of this consultation will be taken back to the GCP Executive Board in 2022 to decide on the next steps regarding the preferred options. We want to make sure that local residents get the chance to find out more about what will be happening, as well as ask any questions before they complete any local consultation surveys.

We have arranged an online event for Wednesday the 17th November from 6:30pm to 8pm. This is so that people can find out more about the improvements consultation. The event will start with an update from speaker Jo Baker, followed by time for members of the public to ask any questions. If you prefer, questions can also be sent to community@abbeypeople.org.uk by 5pm on Monday 15th November.
